Olivia Richardson received her M. M. in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado Boulder. A student of Dr. David Korevaar and Dr. Alejandro Cremaschi, she graduated with honors in December of 2019. While in graduate school, Richardson also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration to further her interests in community engagement and arts advocacy through the lens of a performer.
In the wake of the pandemic, Richardson moved to Los Angeles, CA. She explored her passion for community engagement programming while working at Education Through Music-Los Angeles - a nonprofit dedicated to putting music education back into Title 1 schools in Los Angeles.
Currently, Ms. Richardson serves as the Music Academy Manager at the Colburn School were she oversees the pre-college program for 43, exceptional student musicians from around the world. Previously at Colburn, she served as the Community Engagement Associate in which she facilitated music education and engagement programming for 8,500+ students each year from socioeconomically disadvantaged schools and communities.
Outside of work, Olivia is an avid researcher and speaker having recently presented at the National Guild for Community Arts Education and the College Music Society Conferences on “Public Service and the Performing Artist” - an a initiative which explores the need for community engagement training programs in schools of music in higher education.
Her most recent project, Music is Lit, is a non-profit dedicated to connecting small ensembles to local Title 1 elementary schools for a semester-long residency program that integrates reading literacy and basics of music education for students TK-2.
In her spare time, Ms. Richardson maintains a small, private piano studio in Eagle Rock, CA. She enjoys exploring the variety of great cuisine that LA offers with her husband, Tyler, and taking her German Shepherds, Judie and Goose, to the Huntington Dog Beach.
